Video: Barack Obama - Multi-Network Half Hour Special!!!

I was debating whether or not to put this up cuz it's so long but then I remembered a McCain ad I saw during the Colts/Patriots game tonight... Can you believe that his party is buying prime time TV spots 2 nights before the election to show that SAME video of Reverend Wright cursing America and to tie Obama to him?? The ad ended "Barack Obama: Too Radical, Too Risky for America." Are you for serious?!? Barack's too risky but you want me to choose you over him JUST because 1 of his acquaintances said some crazy shit? Right. I guess YOUR acquaintances are all angels. Okay...

Barack is the real deal. If you're still not convinced, you're an idiot and watch this video so you know what an advertisement in the week before the election is supposed to look like!! No smears, no name-calling, as Palin CONTINUES to do, just a straight-forward proposition to fix our country's problems. It really is worth every minute, especially as the clock winds down. These next couple of days are going to be historic... BARACK '08!!!

Videos: Gnarls Barkley - Mystery Man Trailer AND Who's Gonna Save My Soul?

Gnarls Barkley. They've always been on some other shit but somehow, they've always been right on point. Above is a short trailer for a new song, "Mystery Man," off their upcoming EP Who's Gonna Save My Soul? (sounds sick, might I add) and below is the video for the title track "Who's Gonna Save My Soul?" My man S. Velez told me about this video a couple weeks ago but I didn't get a chance to check it until this week and it's INSANE. Literally, it's like the most bugged out thing that I've seen in a long time and it still speaks so much knowleldge. If you've ever been in an relationship, do yourself a favor and watch the video below.

Nicki Minaj - Beam Me Up Scotty

Speaking of Wayne, LOOK AT NICKI MINAJ!!! Hahahaha, sorry I just NEEDED to show ya this... Young Money's looking kinda good right now, pun intended, with Nicki coming like this and Kevin Rudolph popping off on the radio with that "Let It Rock" joint. Anyway, check out Nicki Minaj (above) and check out her new joint, it's a good look too! Hahahaha.

Video: Lil' Wayne - Mrs. Officer/Comfortable feat. Bobby Valentino (+ 2 New Joints!!)

Aight, I haaaaate this "Mrs. Officer" joint on the radio but in the spirit of Halloween, I'm down to see models dressed up as cops dancing around for a little, I don't know about you...

Here are some NEW Wayne freestyles off the Dedication 3 mixtape dropping next week. Dude really ain't stopping, it's kinda ridiculous.

Video: Miri Ben-Ari - Stand With Me

I hope ya caught that half hour Barack Obama special on like 4 of the major TV networks tonight cuz he ROCKED it!! Honestly, I have my qualms with politics and politicians, including Barack, but I feel like he did an AMAZING job showing America the type of President he will be and the type of man that he is. There were 0 jokes in those 30 minutes cuz unlike Mr. McCain, Barack knows that these are serious times that call for serious minds. He laid out his entire agenda for the world to see because hey, MAYBE his is better than McCain's. Just maybe...

All I know is I didn't need this half hour special to decide who I'm voting for but I needed it to reaffirm why I'm voting for him. He IS what we need at this point in history. Let's make it happen people.

Here's Miri Ben-Ari ROCKING the national anthem representing for none other than the man himself - Barack Obama.

Big Sean - Billionaire

Since we're on dope hooks, check out the first joint off the homie Big Sean's upcoming mixtape. Big Sean is the newest G.O.O.D. Music signee so I'm fucking with him off the strength of Kanye alone. He ain't bad neither.

Video: Lil' Wayne at NY's Powerhouse!

Aight, I had to throw this video up cuz the shit kinda happened last night over in Jersey and Wayne did his thing. Take this Mike Jones and Weezy track as a lil bonus. The hook is dope. As is Wayne.

Video: T.I.'s PSA on Atlanta's Channel 2

"Some people call me TIP, but this is about another kind of tip..." Hahahahaha, I guess this is the downside of living a music video!

Video: Asher Roth Interview/Performance at Sk8tique (+ New Joint!)

Aight, I just found this Asher video from the opening of the Sk8tique boutique in Atlanta. DJ Don Cannon and skater Stevie Williams opened the store, with built-in ramp of course, last week during the BET Hip Hop awards. Asher Roth RIPS this performance though... or maybe the joint is just too hot.

Here's a new joint from homie too. I'm telling you, he's sick and this beat by Nottz is insaaaane!

Video: T.I. - Live Your Life feat. Rihanna

It's a pretty dope video. I mean homie's life is like a walking music video so it's not all that hard.  At least watch the intro...

Video: Jsmooth - Yes We Did (aka Jsmooth is the ILLEST!!!)

My dude Jsmooth is TOO on point!! It's like he has all the right words at all the right times for all the right thoughts... It's incredible. LISTEN UP PEOPLE! THE MAN IS SPEAKING KNOWLEDGE!! We're only 9 days away from the single biggest day in our nation's history. Let's not blow it.

Video: Robama

Maybe we shouuuuuld be listening to Mccain...  Check out this video showing what shit will be like if Obama wins the election.

Video: Cypher Round 3 - Ace Hood, Juelz, Fabolous, & Jadakiss

Yoooo, if you ain't catch the BET Hip Hop Awards this week, you missed this...

Say it ain't sick! Even Ace Hood go in!!

Ludacris - Last of a Dying Breed feat. Lil' Wayne (+ Wayne's Baby Mama!)

This is a SERIOUS track off Ludacris' upcoming "Theater of the Mind" album. I fucks with Luda cuz he really is a lyricist, not just another rapper. And you already know Wayne...

By the way, I'm sure you've all heard the news of Lil' Wayne's baby boy being born in Cincinatti this week. What you know about baby mama though?? This is her picture via my girl Miss Info. Cute, huh? Apparently, the girl's name is Sara, something like 20 years old, Vietnamese and white, and still a college student. Supposedly, she's gotten down with a couple of the Bengals football players and is "well-known" in Cinci celebrity circles... Whatever the case may be, I'ma go ahead and call her Mrs. Sara Carter, mother of Dwayne Carter III, now that she went and got "Mrs. Carter" tatted on her chest!! Shorties...

Mavado - So Special Remix feat. Tru Life

It's been a minute since I've heard Tru Life on ANYTHING but if there was ever a joint to come back on, it's this 1. Mavado is that fucking dude in JA and "So Special" is that get-it-popping-ANYWHERE track right now. You're welcome.

Q-Tip - We Fight/Love feat. Raphael Saadiq

It is now official, Q-Tip's "The Renaissance" is gonna be a SICK album. Every joint that I've heard off it is dope and this 1 is even better than the other shit!

I love Q-Tip cuz he's always kept a jazzy vibe. On this joint, he brings in Raphael Saadiq to smooth it out even more! Check it:

"The Renaissance" drops on the day of the Election, 11/4 in case you forgot, so if you HAPPEN to stop by a record store after casting your voooote, you might wanna pick this 1 up. Holla.

Video: Mike Epps - Big Girls

What up worrrrld?? I know it's been a couple days but I'm back with goodies... no homo. Check out Mike Epps flipping this Bow Wow track. I always thought the beat was sick and you know how Mike Epps runs with shit... WE COOKIN'!! Hahahaha.

Tuesday, October 21, 2008

Duo Live - Shootin' feat. Billz, Joell Ortiz, Red Cafe, Uncle Murda, & M.O.P.

I've never heard of Duo Live but apparently they've been producing and dropping albums outta Brooklyn for a couple of years now. That would explain why every rapper on this "Shootin'" joint is from Brooklyn... The beat on this joint is ridiculous too. Check it:

Video: MIMS and Joell Ortiz Freestyle

Ummmmm, I just finished watching this shit and Joell Ortiz is just stupid. Ain't no other way to describe it, dude just goes in. MIMS does his thing too. Honestly, I feel like a lot of people don't like MIMS just cuz he said he "could sell a mil saying nothing on the track" but at the end of the day, "This Is Why I'm Hot" was a hot song. This business lives and dies by these hot songs and WE were the ones wilding out when that joint came on in the club!! Let homie live.

Here's a new MIMS joint that's hot too. His production team is sick and he DESTROYS the end of the second verse! It's called "Move If You Wanna."

Move If You Wanna - Mims

DJ Babu - The Unexpected feat. MF Doom and Sean Price

Aight, so this is DJ Babu from Dilated Peoples' song but it's featuring Sean Price and my man MF DOOM!! I haven't heard a Doom track in a minute and he goes in on this ill ass beat. That's why the picture's Doom and not Babu. Babu's nice though.

Video: Don't Buy Albums

After my last Kanye post, I HAD to throw this video up. It's a Public Service Announcement encouraging you NOT to buy albums... sorta. It's just comedy, check it out.

And I can't lie, I listened to Kanye's "Coldest Winter" a couple times over the weekend... I had a rough week ya'll, let me live!! I know I said I was done following 'Ye until the album drops but check out my man on Big Boy's Neighborhood talking about how 808's and Heartbreak came to be and playing the "Coldest Winter" joint at the end...

Video: Jim Jones - Day N Nite (Remix)

Yoooooo, I heard this motherfucker on Hot 97 Saturday night but fucking Absolute only played it 1 time!! THANK THE LORD Capo dropped a quick video for this joint cuz it is THE. TRUTH. How you start a song "We born to die.../So I get high just like I'm born to fly"?!?!?! Ridic.

Btw, for all you ladies and Stan fans out there, Jimmy's phone number is at the end of the video...

Video: 7 On Your Side goes after Pras

If ya don't remember the Fight Klub, it was the underground rap battle arena that had a short stint on MTV featuring those battles. In its heyday, when rappers were landing deals off they Fight Klub appearances, I actually made it up to their studio and got to kick it with the management and host, my dude International P. Well, after the battles subsided and there was no more TV show, there hasn't been much coming out of the Fight Klub. Until now...

Ray Devers, the "owner" of Fight Klub according this report, called channel 7's "7 On Your Side" segment to help him retrieve $19k owed to him by Fugees member Pras. This is what it's coming down to folks, we in a recession so if you have to shame someone into giving you your money, it is what it is!! Hahaha, check the report.

Video: Steele - Letter To Barack Obama

Oh, I'm not done going hard for Barack Obama. Here's my dude General Steele from Smif-N-Wessun going in on Weezy/Yeezy's "Uncomfortable" beat. The shit is so real.

By the way, I had my countdown to election all sorts of wrong but I'm back on it! We're officially 16 days away from the 2008 Presidential election.

Video: Asher Roth - "Roth Boys"

I don't know if you know about this kid Asher Roth but he's coming strong. He's a white boy from PA who can spit like no one's business. I been bumping him since his Greenhouse Effect mixtape with DJ Drama and DJ Cannon dropped earlier this summer and trust me, dude is nice. Click here to listen to and/or download the mixtape and check out this hilarious video of Asher and his people flipping Jay's "Roc Boys."

Btw, I fucks with Asher Roth cuz he also represents that new wave of artists coming to change the game. He's a college student who recognizes the stereotypes that rappers insinuate so he's just rapping about the shit around him and doing it well. At the end of the day, you don't have to be a gangsta to be real, you just have to be real...

UPDATE: Asher is really fucking dope. Check out his MySpace Page and listen to the songs on his music player. Those are his hottest joints and they're exactly what I'm talking about in terms of what hip hop needs... The third one "CANNON" is the shit by the way, that joint KNOCKS!

50 Cent's "The Money and The Power" Reality Show Trailer

Yep, it's true, 50 got his own reality show coming to MTV. One day, I too will have a show where I make everyday people act crazy in front of the whole world for a chance to work with me. It's gonna be called "Insight or Insult: Take it how you wanna take it." Every week, I'ma put the contestants through ridiculous challenges and then critique them in the harshest way possible to see how much it takes to break them... Hahahaha, don't that sound like fun? Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the prize is $100,000 off the cool million or 2 I'll take home from the show. Just fyi.

The Kanye West Stops Here!

Just so you all know, I'm a REAL music head. Like super real. So real that I refrain from listening to any leaked tracks from albums I wanna own. By own I mean like going to Best Buy after work on the Tuesday it drops, dropping 10 cash on the first explicit version I see, unwrapping the CD in my whip before I even turn it on, looking through the booklet as I listen to the track number 1, and then bumping the SHIT outta track 2 as I pull out of the parking lot!!! The rest is self-explanatory.

That being said, I gotta stop with the Kanye... I must've listened to that first verse of "Heartless" at least 60 times in the 5 days it's been up! THE FIRST VERSE!! And then today, I get on the blogs and find this "Coldest Winter" radio rip that is UNBELIEVABLE. I listened to it 1 time and said "no mas, I MUST wait for 808's and Heartbreak, the whole thing." So here's the link for the last of the Kanye:

And just so ya understand where I'm coming from, watch/listen to my dude introduce 808's and Heartbreak at his listening party this week in LA. I swear that album's gonna be my medicine for a minute...

Cam'ron - Owe Me (Oh No You Didn't)

Yo, a couple weeks ago I posted the video to the Wojahn Bros. "Oh No You Didn't" cuz that shit was doooope. Click here for the original. But here's Cam taking it and flipping in traditional Cam fashion. I fucks with it cuz I fuck with Cam'ron on these kinda beats, only he could do it...

Palin Supporters Speak to Reporter about Obama.

Just in case you thought I was lying...

McCain's Latest Attack Ad...

Aight, I caught some of the debate tonight but I was chilling with my boy D out in the Bronx so I wasn't really paying attention. At this point, I feel like there's not much else that can be said, I know who I'm gonna vote for, let's get it popping!!!

Take this McCain ad for example... Nobody's talking about it but come onnnn, there are some dumb ass people in this country who are masking their racism by claiming that Barack Obama is an Arab!! NO BITCH, HE'S BLACK. Half black actually and he's like the embodiment of hope. It's just frustrating to see REAL issues get swept under the rug while these dudes discuss who's contradicting themselves because they voted this or that way on meaningless bills that they make out to be sooooo important. That's why I call it politrix.

Anywaaay, VOTE THE FUCK FOR OBAMA!!! He's our only chance. By the way, that Yes We Can mixtape is kinda ridiculous... Hit me if you want the 60 minute mp3, I'll have the individual tracks up as soon as my man Eskay chops them up.

16 days left.

Video: Q-Tip - Move

Yo, I long for those Tribe days man. The Native Tongues movement was about the best thing that ever happened to hip hop but somehow we let the shiny suits and expensive cars thing take over... Welcome to America.

Luckily for us, my man Q-Tip ain't lose focus. He's coming back with a new album The Renaissance slated to drop 11/4/08 and THIS joint is his first video, directed by Rik Codero. Ain't it so Michael?? Q-Tip is smart though, he traded in the Jheri curl for a hat. It's less likely to catch fire...

Jay-Z - Lick A Shot

I'm telling you, I'm going HARD for Obama! Matter fact, I'ma start counting down the days till the election. As of today, it is 17 days. Keep up...

Here's one of Jay's tracks on DJ Green Lantern, Russell Simmons and Barack Obama's upcoming Yes We Can: The Mixtape. Yeaaaah, it's that real. I'll post a link for the whole mixtape in a day or 2.  Vote people, THIS IS ABOUT THE WORLD!!

Bishop Lamont - You Ain't Fresh (Off DETOX!!!)

If you don't know who Bishop Lamont is, you will very soon. Dude is Dr. Dre's latest protege and what better way to kick off your career than by being featured on Detox?!? I know... we've been waiting on Detox for about as long as we've been waiting for a new President but you can thank Bishop Lamont for FINALLY giving us the first taste of the album!! Check the video below coming from dude's performance in Paris last night:

I know it's a short clip and that the audio ain't GREAT but how sick is that fucking beat?! I hope you caught him going in on Game too... Dude said:

Niggas name drop their whole fucking album dude
You shoulda called your second album Phonebook Part 2

T-Pain - Chopped N Skrewed feat. Ludacris

Teddy's back with another one!!! This is my SHIT right now and if I were you, I'd enjoy it before radio picks it up and makes you hate it. Trust me, it's my job to follow the charts and fyi, "Can't Believe It" is only NOW reaching #1 at Urban. I bet you can't believe THAT!

Joy Denalane - Change feat. Lupe Fiasco

We're about 3 weeks from the election and I'm pulling hard for Obama. Check out this video from R&B newcomer Joy Denalane featuring my man Lupe. The song uses the same sample as Young Jeezy's "Go Crazy" so you already know it's knocking and the imagery in the video is sick. Just watch...

Hyper Crush - The Arcade

I don't know much about this group but ever since my boy Waaadams put me on to this video, I stay going back to it. The 80's video game references are sick and what you know about the keytar?? Say it ain't hot...

Juelz Santana - I Can't Feel My Face feat. Lil' Wayne

Ummmm, they're at it agaiiiiin... The name is old but this joint is new, trust me.

Even though we're all still waiting on that Juelz and Wayne I Can't Feel My Face album, I'm pretty sure this is just gonna be on Juelz shit Born to Lose, Built to Win coming out sometime this quarter. Either way, the shit is BANANAS. Download it while you can!

John Jermaine aka The Crazy Robertson

I'm telling ya, LA is hell of a place... When I lived out there summer of '05, there was a bum across the street from my building who would jam to dance tunes on roller skates ALL DAY!! True story, by 8, 9am everyday, homie would have his boombox bumping and be busting out CRAZY moves on his skates, hahahaha! I remember that shit vividly.

Well, on this trip, I met a dude named Teddy with just about the craziest music collection I've heard in a while and he started telling me about a clothing company that he started called The Crazy Robertson. It's a streetwear company centered around a guy who's notorious in LA for dancing on Robertson Boulevard. Ain't The Crazy Robertson my dude from across the street?!? Hahahaha! Check out what my man Teddy has created off this dude...

I'm definitely copping me some a tee or something, The Crazy Robertson is LEGENDARY!

Kanye West - Heartless

Dead ass, I can't WAIT for 808's and Heartbreaks!! I been missing that real music in my life. This is my man 'Ye tearing it down in the city of my current dreams... I can't help it ya'll!!

For the record...

What's goodie my folks?? It's been a couple of days since I've posted anything on here but ya have to forgive me, coming back from LA was not easy. Fuck with me for a second, I need to clear my head on the record so that I can continue this blog run without hesitation.

Before, during, and since LA, I've been doing a lot of thinking (and talking to some key folks) about my future both in the music game and in general. Just to put it all out there, I don't know if there's anything left for me here... NY is certainly my home and of course, there's no place like home but home isn't always necessarily where niggas need to be. Real talk, I think the only time that I made something of myself on my own accord without distractions was when I put myself through boarding school. My parents ain't want me to go, my girlfriend at the the time fucked one of my best friends over it, but at 14 I thought I was grown and said "fuck it, I need to do this for me." I didn't know what I was getting myself into but those 4 years in Connecticut changed my life for the WAAAY better. Now, I'm going on 24 which means I'm ACTUALLY grown and I think it might be time to do it again.

Notice that I said "it might be time." I have a lot more to take into consideration now than at 14 so the decision is not gonna be easy. I shouldn't even be putting myself on blast until I've made the decision but ya need to know why I haven't posted anything in days: I DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THIS GAME RIGHT NOW!! I've been surfing a little bit and shit has been happening, a little bit, but I'm just not that interested. Hip hop is so stagnant right now and I'm ready for the new wave to crash down and wipe out the dead fish. Thinking about LA and thinking about the future, I've just been more interested in being part of the wave than reporting which fish did what to smell better. Sorry if that analogy went too deep but that's how a nigga feel right now...

In the meantime, I'ma keep posting shit that I find interesting and covering artists who are splashing around trying to get the wave going. Hate it or love it, the music game as we know it is coming to an end and if I ain't a part of the new generation when it happens, I'll certainly be helping to usher it in. Bottom line is, whether here or in LA, I can't play the bench.

Killer Biscuits...

HAHAHAHAHAHA... I'm done.

Pharrell - I'm A PC

This is an ad but listen to my dude! Knowledge is knowledge: "We're on the brink of the next steps for mankind."

Kanye West - Love Lockdown

'Ye debuted this on the Ellen DeGeneres show today. That's how bullshit the music game is right now. Fuck a MTV or BET, artists gotta go on daytime television to get a decent and fair interview. Here's video from that interview with Kanye talking about losing his mom, fashion, and his new album, among other things.

U-N-I: K.R.E.A.M.

I couldn't help myself!!! This is the video that put me on to U-N-I so SNEAKERHEADS UNITE!

Speaking of sticking out wherever we at...

...YOUR BOY'S BACK IN LA!!! Shouts to my brother Lo for putting me up in San Diego this weekend (cool ass city, fyi) but LA is what I been waiting for! I haven't been in this incredible city since the summer of '05 when I interned for Warner Music in Burbank and this time around, I'm tryna see what's really, REALLY good. Sidenote: I just realized that that internship was in the New Media department and it was my first real introduction to online social networking... look at me now!

Anyway, as much as I love New York (the city, not Tiffany from VH1), I think I'm reaching a point where I need a change of pace from the city's hustle and bustle to do nothing. Maybe it's cuz I been in NY my whole life but the city stresses me the fuck out! Life over here, from what I recall, takes its time and ya all know how i LOOOVE taking my time... hahahaha. I don't know, this is neither here nor there (figuratively speaking), I'm just looking at my life and tryna find the right environment for it, ya dig?

Right now, I'm in my hotel room waiting for this conference to kick off so I haven't seen or experienced much yet but check out this video from U-N-I, the next big thing out of LA if you ask me. Just feel the vibe of the song and the video. Listen to these kids' lyrics. How much more constructive is this than NY's swagged-out, haterade tirades? I'm just saying... it's a "Beautiful Day."

Who Got The Swag?

In case you're lost, the Dipset Capo Mr. Jim Jones ain't letting the swagger train pass him by so he's recording his own version of "Swagger Like Us" called "Jackin' Swagger From Us" featuring Juelz Santana and Lil' Wayne. Yeah, according to Jimmy, Wayne's the only one from the original version with legitimate swagger...

Anywaaaay, the captions in the video above are direct quotes from a Jim Jones interview with Complex magazine. Apparently, Jimmy's the most fashionable dude in hip hop... Hahahaha! There is one dope quote out this bitch though: "The cool dudes always stick out no matter where they at." True story.

Eminem's Autobiography: The Way I Am

Just the other day, I was having a conversation about the best rappers ever and Eminem is perpetually in the top 5 of that list, without a doubt. Dude is a genius putting words together but unfortunately has had A LOT of shit happen in the last couple of years. For example, BOTH his bum ass baby moms married and divorced him a few weeks later AND his best friend Proof was shot and killed by a Detroit bouncer in '06 alone!! You already know his come-up was tough so I'm sure this autobiography is gonna be AMAZING. Check for it on 10/21/08.

Here's some extra selling points, if you need them:

"Illustrated with never-before-seen photographs of Eminem's home and life along with original drawings, The Way I Am is filled with reflections on his greatest hits, previously unpublished lyric sheets, and other rare memorabilia. Providing his millions of fans with a personal tour of Eminem's creative process, it is poised to be hailed in much the same way as Tupac's The Rose that Grew from Concrete, Bob Dylan's Chronicles, and Journals by Kurt Cobain."

Note to Paps: Leave 'Ye Alone!

The paparazzi will really drive a nigga up the fucking wall! This video comes from Friday morning, LAX again I believe. Anyway, check out Kanye's eyes when dude starts asking questions. He is NOT playing...

Palin to herself: "OMG! You're such a good debater!"

I know I'm a little late on this but I was traveling yesterday and didn't get a chance to address Thursday's "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?" Wait, I meant Vice Presidential debate...

So the consensus seems to be that "people" were impressed by Sarah Palin's discourse and ability to hold her own... I even read an article on CNN by a political radio personality who compared Palin's charisma to that of Bill Clinton's and Ronald Reagan's!! Ummmm, REALLY?? Luckily for all of us, I got an exclusive look at Palin's debate flow chart. Check out why she did so "well":

Say it's not dead on... Just for fun, check out the VP debate in rap battle form. Just as accurate...

Slash - Godfather Theme

Shouts to Chyna on this one niggaaas! If you don't know about Slash, he got 2 sons named London and CASH. Actually. This nigga rocks the SHIT out this Godfather theme so rock with it. Trust me, you'll thank me later...

The Joke's on us and not even Batman can save us now...

The bill has been passed but we're still assed out...

T-Pain vs. His Vocoder

This one goes out to all ya autotune haters acting like T-Pain ain't shit without it. Say what you want but the man's a walking hit-machine and to show how real he is, homie clowns himself!! FYI, that tactic always works. Remember B. Rabbit in the last battle of 8 Mile? "I am white! I am a fucking bum! I do live in a trailer with my mom!!" Classic... Anyway, check out Teddy Pin-her-ass-down in the studio taking on his vocoder:

Peedi Crakk - Sweet Dreams (Dissing Jay-Z)

Ummm, will somebody tell Nas that he just got trumped for the best Jay diss record? Thanks.

Hahaha, I'm feeling this. It's clearly comedy but it's so true to Peedi's story and so fucking catchy! I'ma be singing this for a minute, I know it.

50 Cent - 50 For President

Yo, I have WAAAY too much fun with these posts, for real! Don't he look sooo presidential?? Hahaha...

Anyway, in preparation for Before I Self Destruct, dropping 12/9/08, the man who shares his birthday with George Bush released this track on thisis50.com. In case you were wondering, Before I Self Destruct will be 50's last studio album under his contract with Interscope. There will be a greatest hits compilation but come on, 50's greatest hits?? Yeaaaah...

Cam'ron - Still The Reason

Ain't this the best picture of Cam'ron you've ever seen?!? Hahaha! I coulda gone with a pic of him in a pink mink or chilling in his Miami blue Lambo but it's Killa, dog! He'll kill you, dog... Hahahaha aight, I'm done. Check out Cam's new joint off his upcoming album Crime Pays.

John Legend - It's Over feat. Kanye West

This is a SUPER fresh song off John Legend's new album Evolver set to hit stores 10/28/08. Click on the link below to listen AND DOWNLOAD, BITCHES!!! Yeaaah, that's right, you can download it but do it quick cuz the labels catch onto these leaks pretty quickly and squash them out...

Wojahn Bros. - Oh No You Didn't

This is my shiiiiiiit!! Ever since the commercial for the video game Mercenaries 2 started running on TV I been feeling this song and apparently I wasn't the only one. The song is already being added at radio and they released the full length video above. Pretty good for 2 brothers that've been making music for commercials since the early 90's just for fun...

Apparently EVERYONE on the Corner has Swagger...

By now ya all know that "Swagger Like Us" joint with 'Ye, Jay, Wayne, and Tip and if you're like me, you're already tired of it. (Sidenote: Ain't it sad how quickly shit gets played out in hip hop nowadays?? We're talking about 4 of the best rappers of the 2000's on the same track and the shit is obsolete 3 weeks after its hits the streets. It's a damn shame...) Well, it seems that other rappers aren't. Here are 2 prominent rappers who thought they swag was so serious, they needed to make VIDEOS to let us know. Let's start with Puff...

Last, but not least, is this dude that I HAVE to call Officer Rawse!! Hahahaha, shout to Eskay from nahright.com on that one! I know ya feel me...

NOTORIOUS!!! We are.. We are...

I been meaning to put this up since it dropped last week but kept forgetting. Here is the official trailer for Fox Searchlight's biopic Notorious chronicling the life and times of our beloved Biggie Smalls. The movie opens nationwide 1/16/09 so get ready, this is the first biopic hailing from our generation and it's gonna be SERIOUS!!

I also found this today but seems like it was too late... Fox Searchlight was letting fans vote on the official theatrical poster for the movie but seems like voting has ended already. Regardless of the fact, the poster will be 1 of the 3 below, check them out:

Sandman - Anchor

I fucks with the Clipse and consequently the Re-Up Gang so check out Sandman from the gang doing his solo thing. PRODUCERS, THIS IS HOW YOU SAMPLE CLASSIC ROCK!!

Super High Me

Aight, I caught this movie over the weekend (or as much as I could before the Jack Fruit put me on my ass) and it's kinda crazy. Ya all remember Morgan Spurlock's eye-opening Super Size Me, where dude ate McDonald's for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 30 days. Well, this is comedian Doug Benson, from VH1 and Comedy Central and a million other TV shows and shit, smoking weed non-stop for 30 days after NOT smoking or drinking for 30 days. Check the trailer:

The best part of the movie for me was definitely the beginning where Doug stops smoking because I just gave up the ganja last week... Well, except for Fridays and Saturdays- I'm only human, people!! ANYWAAAAY, listening to dude talk about life off marijuana was crazy cuz everything he said was like the truest thing I've ever heard. It's tough man. I have to speak on it cuz on this Sunday night, 40 minutes before Entourage, I would normally be blazed off my ass and getting ready to light 1 up at 10 on the dot. Problem is that when I get high, I am the epitome of an asshole- I don't like anyone, I ignore shit I know is important, and I believe that I'm simply too cool to have to abide by ANYONE'S standards, let alone society's. That's why I had to stop. I don't want to be an asshole, I wanna be normal. I wanna be able to get on AIM without thinking "Daaamn, all these random muhfuckas are gonna start hitting me, let me go invisible." That's ridiculous. Those are my friends, people that at some point or another I gave my screenname to so we could chat every so often. I'm making that transition into normal life as we speak cuz too cool for school mighta been cool IN school but we grown now, it's time to act like it. For me, at least...

Skullhead Stephens

Shout to my homie Stephen on this one. Dude's out in Berlin getting his art on and yesterday he picked up these Dunk Hi's commemorating the German soccer club FC St. Pauli from Hamburg. I'd never seen them before but they're kinda serious... Ostrich skin check over skull and bones AND a suede back?? Ill.

This is my JOINT right now!! Check out Teyana Taylor in the video, she's gonna do big things that girl.

Presidential Debate '08: Really??

Was last night's Presidential Debate REALLY that bad?? I don't know if it was the stress of the economic crisis or just general exhaustion from non-stop campaigning but neither candidate said ANYTHING new or even memorable! McCain's still banking on his experience (he's old) and Obama's still banking on Bush-haters wanting change (he's right) making both of them unbelievably boring and stagnant last night.

Obama's lucky that McCain is the worst public speaker ever, next to Dubya of course, cuz he only won that debate by default. If I were grading these dudes in debate class, I woulda failed both of them last night, true story.

Btw, that's not really Obama in the Soul Train video below, it just really looks like him... hahaha.

DAAAAAMN: Slam Jams

I'm addicted to sneakers. There, I admitted it. Admitting there's a problem is always the first step to recovery... I ain't tryna recover though! I'm tryna keep my shoe game on "DAAAAAMN, where'd you find those?!?" Hahahaha.

That being the case, check out these uptowns courtesy of new Italian boutique Slam Jam and the good folks over at HypeBeast. My pockets are lucky that they're only available in Italy cuz those gray joints are looking riiiiight!

I don't know what any of these stats mean!

My man Jay Smooth from illdoctrine.com is a REALLY smart dude and I'm REALLY glad he took the time out to address the economic situation right now. Niggas wanna use $700 Billion of government money WE DON'T HAVE to bail out these corporations that have been raping us, with the government's blessings, for years! That's what I understand from the situation but let Jay Smooth put you on game.

So Slick That It's Slippery...

Yo, I don't know about ya but work for me today was booooooring!! In order not to die from Excel exhaustion, I kept taking blog breaks to see what's out there and maaaan, are there some funny ass videos floating around...

This one is dedicated to my lil' brother Sham who's stuck in Florida right now finishing up his last year of school. Senior year of college was the biggest bitch for me cuz I knew I didn't give a fuck about 90% of the shit I was "learning" but at least I had my own room to smoke in. Some people aren't so lucky so they take out they frustrations in interesting ways. Check the vid:

It's funny as shit but that means war in my book.

"When you say teenage, how old are we talkin'?"

I didn't catch the BET interview where R. Kelly defends his "innocence" after beating the child pornography case but it made a splash about the size of a fucking tsunami online! He got under people's skin something serious and since I figured out how to post videos on this here blog, I thought I'd bless ya with 2 of the best videos I found regarding the issue.

First, let's start with some comedy. Grand Hustle comedian Lil' Duval ain't like the way that BET's Toure handled the interview with Mr. Kelly SOOO he just cut his own version. Dead ass, if I were interviewing dude, it woulda gone something like this too...

Hahahahahaha, need I say more??

Funk Flex certainly does. He ain't think there was anything funny about the interview and he lets it be known in the following video. I'm glad Flex did this cuz somebody had to address it straight up. Check it...

It's that real.

Kanye + Rhymefest + Muppets = Comedy!!!

Waaaaay earlier in the year, there was a rumor floating around about Kanye West and his "Brand New" homeboy Rhymefest starting a new TV show complete with muppets... Of course, the haters of the internet took they shots and the "rumor" was quickly forgotten but today, the first videos from the show surfaced online and they're hilarious!!

Check out "Baby in the Club" and tell me it ain't straight comedy... 20+1=21, they good!! Hahahahaha.

What'd I say?? Dude said they both poppin' bottles in the club!! Hahaha, classic...

The Love Below

First and foremost, I must welcome you to All Parts Rejoice As 1, your boy's first venture into this so-called "blogosphere." For the last 5 years, I've been studying the music industry from the top execs at the majors to the bottom bloggers on the net and after the reading the article below, I felt it was time to add my 2 cents to the mix. Some of it will be funny, some provocative, but all of it will be interesting. Oh yeah, I also got the newest music available, trust...

With that said, let's jump into the catalyst for this blog. Saul Williams is a Grand Slam Champion at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe and has credits that include 5 albums, 4 books, and 10 movies!! I can't lie, I didn't know who he was before this article but he speaks knowledge and after reading it 1 time, that knowledge empowered me to make this move. That's what promoting love over hate does, it opens doors for everyone. The article comes AllHipHop.com's "Alternative" section and if you'd like to learn more about the man, check out his official web site at SaulWilliams.com.

Enjoy the love below and speak your mind... This is the blogosphere folks!!

Poets over Rappers Vol. 1

Listening to Kanye's "Love Lockdown" and reading the comments beneath it on AllHipHop.com, it brought me back to the conversation I had yesterday, sitting in the barber chair while images of an old me flashed on MTV in a Goodie Mobb video for my film Slam. Me and Bruce, my barber, started talking about the attention that so many rappers give to "haters" in their music and how hate seems to fuel so much creativity in the hood and Hip-Hop community.

We questioned what our music would sound like if it weren't so pre-occupied with hate or haters, if we shifted our attention to the fact that so many of us are loved by so many more than we are hated by.

I think of the family members and friends that call to check in on me, the messages that I get from fans, and my personal triumph at home with having found love and the newfound challenges that come with learning how to fully surrender to it and am forced to admit, I am loved, most fully by one, and quite truly by many. Yet, reading those posts underneath Kanye's obvious attempt at pouring his heart out, made me actually acknowledge, that some heads can be truly hateful and that that hatefulness must certainly have roots in something that is on lockdown, deep within.

Deep within the psyche of the Hip-Hop community and mos def within aspects of the African American community, there lives a feeling of being suppressed, held down, by forces that do not wish to see us succeed. Whether the apparent truths that allow us to point fingers at institutionalized racism or the oblivious actions of the privileged hold actual weight, we seem to be most commonly held back by our perceptions of ourselves.

A true glance at Hip-Hop's most successful artists would allow one to see a common thread of confidence and persistence playing a huge part in success. Essentially, the most successful are the ones who don't see obstacles as obstacles, who despite the hardened grimace maintain a positive, balanced, and possibly even optimistic outlook. Yet, why is so much emphasis placed on hate? Is it partially because it is the easiest emotion to write from, the assumed position of the underdog?

Over the past decade or more, Hip-Hop has clearly seemed to be a reflection of the average American psyche, at large. The popularity of gangstas in the mainstream could only be overshadowed by the popularity of gangsters in the government. 50 and George Bush share the same birthday and the idea of "I do what I wanna do, don't care if I get caught..." has surely been the prevailing sentiment in both popular Hip-Hop music and the pro-war stance of the country that allowed Bush to have his way without impeachment, and a lot of bullshit lyricism to claim the charts.

The tides are truly changing, but not without another parallel: It seems that America's addiction to oil can very easily be likened to Hip-Hop's addiction to hate. We are fueled by a source of energy that has led us to murdering the innocent in the name of convenience. Rappers that have never truly been hated on will spit endlessly about haters and their overall defeat, when truly all that has been defeated is the opportunity to spread something more powerful than one's own ego through their music. It's a never ending cycle that puts mean mugs where smiles could be and makes countless victims out of would be victors.

I would argue that Hip-Hop is in dire need of an alternative fuel source, and that what Kanye is experimenting with is exactly that. Lyrics and music that are fueled by love or even love-loss are like cars powered by solar energy or electricity. In the long run, I think we'll all benefit from the transformation.

Until then, fucking with that shit will probably get you, like me, ending up getting honorable mentions in AllHipHop.com's "Alternative" section, never fully realizing that the "alternative" choice will stand the test of time, heal the Earth, and aid in progressing humanity beyond a Pop that pisses on young minds. Eventually, the alternative choices will become the popular choices and many will look back like, "How could I not see that coming?" Hopefully they will have divested their funds from the ideals of the dwindling regime in enough time to save their precious assets.

Those comments beneath Kanye's song made me unwillingly acknowledge that I can grow to understand as much as I want to, but that ain't gonna stop heads from getting and staying caught up. Every path is individual, but most of you cats dress alike and point fingers at the guy who dares to be different, or rather, them self. Diamonds on woodgrain, wanna be swagger, blah blah blah, you fall for it every time it hits the airwaves. I swear I feel a need to tell this NGHs to shut up to they face, but that ain't love... yet, that alone seems to be the only thing that would get me out of this "alternative" prism-like prison.

Grow the fuck up haters. It's much harder to love. And for the record, I'll go verse for verse with anyone of your heroes. Poets over Rappers, bitches. LMAO.
